Akron Art Museum

The Akron Museum served as a spacial learning experience for all of us. Moments such as the overhanging skylight allowed us to witness the expansion of the lobby through light, raising the visual atmosphere. The translucency of the entire structure enabled a subtle transition between itself and the older building behind it. However, after a period inside the structure, the use of steel beams and posts became confusing and overbearing. After having seen the building in person, it was much easier to have an emotional connection with the spaces, as opposed to seeing it through a picture.

What is visual atmosphere and what does it mean when it’s raised? [Love, Ashley]
