Collective Memories

By superimposing photo’s taken from approximately the same spot, Switzerland-based artist, Corinne Vionne, plays with hundreds of tourist photos of  familiar landmarks. The artist creates blurry, yet still mostly recognizable, images that suggests the passing of time. Think of the dance translation, but over many years. It’s interesting to see what stays static, what jumps around.

“Why do we always take the same picture, if not to interact with what already exists?,” Vionnet asks. “The photograph proves our presence. And to be true, the picture will be perfectly consistent with the pictures in our collective memory.”
